Dandiya Festival Celebration

Image
I've made some lovely Indian Friends who are so kind and generous and they invited me to come to this very important 9 day dance festival. I went with Jill and we had such a fun, sweaty night. I don't think we realized how offensive our bad dancing was at the time, that's probably good but we were willing to try and everyone around us was patient and encouraging. The music was SOOOO loud, louder than any concert I remember attending in my youth but it was a crazy fun night. Really pictures don't do it all justice. You need the videos to even begin to get the idea.  Such cute kids doing the dance with the sticks which has a name that I can't remember.   Huge thanks to Kanan and Parul for their kind inclusion and to Jill for the introduction and for taking me.

La Traviata with Luciano Pavaratti

We LOVED our Opera Night with the Cobos family. Many things didn't go as planned but still we ended up with some amazing seat by the 2nd act and the show was incredible.

Volleyball and Mis-Match Day

Brigham got a chance to play on the MS volleyball team while also trying to train for his big SAISA swim meet in Jordan. The fun of being in public school is having a dress theme day to break up the monotony.

New Car and other Important Matters

Image
This is Salima. She's our new Arabic car that Alena calls Sauraman. Matt's baby.  We found a new favorite restaurant. They have amazing salads and this dessert that calls us back again and again.  It's called honeycomb Brittle something or other. The Truffle Fried and Mojito are also quite addicting. It's called. . . The Steak Company. Oh wait, I think I already and posted about this. . .Oh well, we definitely come back repeatedly. I can't explain it. How does a girl in Oman even know how to dress like a bag lady but she nailed all by herself. I've started doing some volunteering at TAISM so I get to take lots of peaks into the world of my children.  We had a playdate with Dalia and Cayetana one day when school was randomly out.  Brigham wanted to show one of his rare shells to the Museum, they noted where he found it. The girls mostly enjoyed touring the museum. It's hard to keep some of their attention but I'm glad they could all have a little outing. ...

Swim Season Begins!

Image
What makes this boy happy? Breaking a couple of school records on his last swim meet before his birthday. Yes, these posts are out of order but that's what you get when I'm playing catch-up and blogging at random! I got to do timing for the first time in a few years. I love cheering on swimmers. You can tell a surprising amount about these MS and HS kids just from watching them at the swim meet. I am always glad to meet parents too. I love this kid. I pray for him. I want him to achieve his goals. It's tough.

Meet the Poulsons

Image
We've had several new families move in, both to the Embassy and church! The Poulsons are an instant fit. They have a missionary, a BYU Freshman, and kids Brigham's age. They also love to adventure and are a lot of fun! We did some snorkeling, some paddle boarding, beach combing and tried to rescue a dead turtle that looked like it had recently died in a fishing net. We took them to Bimah Sinkhole and White Sands Beach. She wanted to jump but yet, she didn't. It's always a guessing game for her courage.

Around the world

Samuel is playing ultimate Frisbee! Eli turned 22! We supplied the entire BYU study program with Kunafa to celebrate. Eli's getting to meet lots of people and eat with them. Lucca is having mission-wide meetings. And food that makes him smile. And Eli is dressing up which isn't his favorite.
