Al Sawadi Beach

Shell hunting is on our list of favorite family activities so today was "shell beach", the common name we gave Al Sawadi Beach. As soon as we drove up boatmen offered to take us to an island. Matt declined, he'd been here a couple of times before and had plans to walk across to the big island at low tide which it was clearly not.

This was the friendliest? most confident? sneaky? crab I've ever encountered. We couldn't quite figure him out. At first we thought he was headed to our bags because he was heading for us. Nope, just, not running away. Sennia even tried to pet him.

We swam, tried to snorkel-nothing! We tried walking across to the big island but the tide never went out and it was taking too long. So, we came back, gathered our things and left. While the kids were happy with their shells, Matt said, we should've taken a boat to the islands. I think the snorkeling is supposed to be really good out there-something for the future.
We still get kind of excited when we see camels hanging out on the sides of the road. I finally got a picture of one.
