Fly My TAISM Eagles!

So in the History of Me, there is no public school until this month. I'm in shock still but my children are in school! This has been the subject of SOOOOO much discussion and prayer over the last year. Brigham and Sennia were 100% excited/nervous or as a friend said "nervcited". Alena was the opposite. "nervannoyed" perhaps. Elise was much more on the nervous and unsure side but perhaps that's partially because we didn't explain school very well to her as we later discovered. This photo is after our 3 orientations we juggled. TAISM did a great job of giving the kids a good picture of what to expect. With COVID restrictions and precautions we weren't allowed to take the kids into the school. This was a big deal to me for Elise so I wanted to make sure each kid knew exactly what to go and where to be. By the end of the day we had a great plan.
TAISM has polo uniforms with PE tshirts every other day. There are 3 colors but the kids all picked navy for day 1 except Elise who had PE.
God's mercy had Alena in the hallway above Elise so she is able to take her to her class every day. I am so grateful that I don't have to worry at all about this.
Sennia and Brigham go in gate 10 together. They're looking so grown up.
Elise loves her teacher and assistant and was very excited about them hailing Texas, specifically Spring and Conroe, as home!
Ms. Barnum has been so fun for Sennia. We love her! All the teachers have focused their lessons on being kind and using teamwork this week. I hear books about being kind on the playground, games using lots of teamwork. I can't say enough about how interactive the Principals, the director and the counselors are with the kids. They know me, they know each of my kids and where to find them after classes.
When Matt asked her about school and if she was excited to go back the next day, Elise said "WHAT? We get to go back tomorrow?" HAHA! She thought it was a one and done event. A bit of a parenting fail. Elise is not a morning person so the first few days were hard for her to get up and feel like eating. By Sunday morning though, she got up, made her bed and ate all her breakfast. I do feel like she's pretty worn out at the end of the day but she loves school and looks forward to going back the next day. All the kids do.

They send out a newsletter at the end of each week. All of my kids were in their newsletter photos. This is elementary school. Sennia is in the library picture and Elise is front and center.
Alena is front and center looking into the microscope in the HS Newsletter.
Brigham was on the front page of his Middle School Newsletter with his Homeroom Table (I think).
I am incredibly grateful that we have this opportunity. I've really enjoyed being able to organize my home and make all the decisions related to that without being interrupted every 30 seconds. It feels really peaceful, especially since I'm not feeling anxious about my kids. TAISM is an incredibly kind and welcoming place. I feel so much peace when I'm on the campus. I think that you can find groups of kids who are the "in" crowd in HS, maybe, I don't know. But, because there are kids from 60 different countries, I think there's someone there for everyone. Alena found a group of kids to eat lunch with who are in several of her classes. The girl who invited her initially is from India and another friend is from Oman. There's something beautiful about this world environment that they're in. My kids have made friends with kids from many countries. I'm not sure I could be happier about that than I am.
