School Update

There are times when you are happy with what you have because you have nothing to compare it to. There are times when you're happy with what you have because it is really truly special. I suppose that our love of TAISM COULD be the former but I kinda don't think so. We loved Homeschooling. I am still a Homeschool Mom at heart. I actually still feel really confident about the quality of much of their learning at home and wish I could adjust some of the academics at TAISM. BUT, my kids love school here. I love almost all of what I see and hear about their school days. My heart overflows hearing them talk of Habiba, and Shama, and Zed, and Pablo, and Dia, and Omar and . . .Sennia's at a table with Sebastian and Saniya. 
Elise takes everything VERY seriously. She comes home and almost always feels starving and needs a pit stop but that one time she came home with an assignment to put all her families names in her name book, she did that first, before everything else.
Matt may end up boycotting birthday parties which are preventing wadi hiking on Saturdays. Elise on the other hand is pretty honored to be at her 3rd birthday party in 3 weeks this weekend.

Getting to bed on time is tricky but we don't run into this too often. Typically she is up, makes her bed and it ready to go. 


I sure miss them but I'm happy that they are having this experience. They love PE and Music and library. They are meeting lots of people and are all anxious to start after school activities. The biggest news of the week is Brigham's Band instrument.I can't divulge the information though. He's holding out until he can bring it home.

Meet the Poulsons

We've had several new families move in, both to the Embassy and church! The Poulsons are an instant fit. They have a missionary, a BYU Freshman, and kids Brigham's age. They also love to adventure and are a lot of fun! We did some snorkeling, some paddle boarding, beach combing and tried to rescue a dead turtle that looked like it had recently died in a fishing net. We took them to Bimah Sinkhole and White Sands Beach. She wanted to jump but yet, she didn't. It's always a guessing game for her courage.

Wadi BC

Samuel led me and two friends on a scramble up into a very dynamic Wadi. He had gone here before with friends and we appreciated his experience. I don't know if they quite knew what they were getting into but after we finished and no one had rolled an ankle I think everyone had a great experience. You just can't help feeling like you're in a giant's playground. These 50 ton boulders just tell a story of where water has been and the power that smoothed and carved out these caverns and crack. It's rather humbling actually. Omanosaura, jayakari were active here.  The wadi ended for us at a cave complete with bats. It's quite a scramble to ascend up it and Samuel was the only one to do it but I'm actually wanting to go back and try again, maybe when it's a little cooler. We love Sam's extra watchful eyes pointing out what we never would've noticed. Spotting Samuel after he came down from the cave. I'm always amazed at Trees that grow to this size...

Never Have I Ever. . .

Never have I ever ridden a school bus. My kids have been able to win at this game for their entire lives, but no more because we are slowly checking off the entire file of public school experiences that they've been able to avoid. This week we experienced two. The infamous school bus. Now, granted, they have a private bus that we fill between our 4 and the Bosse party of 5, no more than 10 kids per bus. It comes to our door and accompanies the younger kids to their classrooms. It is unfortunately loud and very bumpy but it bought me around 6-9 hrs this week. MIRACULOUS. The school is close but you have to go early, then sit and wait and the traffic is so bad that it takes 45 minutes of waiting to pick them up and sometimes 10 or 15 dropping them off and that doesn't include driving time! Villa 1483 wheels up! And. . .our first crazy hair day. Fun for kids crazy pills for parents. This was my best attempt in 15 minutes for unicorn  hair. They were happy, so I'm happy.
