CRAAAAZY Week
We're late losing teeth in the Stecherbush household. Elise turns 7 next month and until this week had never lost a tooth. It's been getting ugly in there. an adult tooth growing in behind a baby tooth, and as you can see in the above picture, the adult tooth is literally pushing those baby teeth all around. Well, she was brushing her teeth the other night, and we hear "What?! Come here!" frantically calling for Sennia and myself. Sennia went in and saw that there was blood in the sink. She looked in Elise's mouth and she was missing a tooth. Sennia opened the drain and there it was. Elise had found something hard in her mouth and thought, "What is that doing there?" and she threw it down the drain and then got worried when she saw the blood.
She came into the hallway and she was SOOOOOOO excited. She told us the story and we all laughed and she just kept screaming. She was so excited to finally lose a tooth. I asked if I could wiggle her other tooth and she let me and I just gave it a little tug and out it came. 2 in 1 night! Man, she was over the moon. I told her I want her to wiggle her other top tooth so she can be toothless just for a little while. Her adult tooth is barreling down though. I don't think it's going to happen. The tooth fairy brought 2 OMR. After hearing all the stories of siblings ending up with $5 she was a little disappointed. I tried to explain that sometimes the tooth fairy forgets for so many nights that she feels the need to give an increase but she got her payout on the first night thanks to Matt's state phone getting a SPAM call at 1am which he did not hear until I finally shook him awake to answer and then I thought he probably hadn't remembered to take care of tooth fairy business so then I got up and then, I continued to be up until it was time to attend my 5am Chemistry exam study group.
Whereas Alena and Elise have been begging to quite school this week because they're so exhausted and Alena is tired of the rigorous schedule, Sennia is thriving. She's been very happy and helpful and sweet. Matt and I took her to Spinny's after Elise was in bed when the kids were playing games with friends. She loves staying up later and I feel like it's actually good for her not to be shuffled with Elise when we can. She's really growing up. She helps her table with their math and is a good student. Matt had a crazy week that he spent shmoozing with the upper management from headquarters who came for a visit and was being shown around by the Royal Office. The had many dinners and lunches, trips to museums and the sooq and all sorts of things. It was a great opportunity for him and also exhausting for him.
There was a lot of stress and emotion going on with our family this week. It was Sam's first week home all week after finishing working at the embassy, it was very sleepless for me and much more. I almost lost it during my Arabic lesson on Thursday. It's such a challenge for me to remember which form of which letter has which dots where as I'm trying to read aloud and I just wasn't up for it. Glad we have new days, new weeks, and even unexpected days off school and work.
