Recent Events

No, we didn't get a puppy. This is just the only photo from the BBQ at the Ambassador's Residence. It was lovely to see grass, at least until the mosquitoes came out. She has a couple of cute dogs and Elise was in love. We all enjoyed it more than we expected. The kids ended up in a game of tag and Matt and I met some of the newer Expats. Formal events are certainly not their specialty but Samuel vowed never to be underdressed again-blame Matt, and I'd say all my kids did their best to socialize with people they don't quite understand very well.

Soniya and Sophia came for a playdate and we did a project and had dinner. So glad for good friends for my girls. Very thankful they live close.

After Samuel's exceptional SAT score I felt it was time to  give him a fun afternoon. We started out at the Natural History Museum. Unfortunately, the curator for the insects wasn't in that day so we're going back Thursday but he did see what was on display. He inspected the tags to get a sense of what kind of work they've got going on. He has some really high hopes that they'll allow him to volunteer his time to help them digitalize their collection on I-naturalist, update some of their labels, and maybe add some of his beetles to their collection. Keeping our fingers crossed!

We identified the large Shell Brig found. It's a spider shell in it's 3rd stage of development.

Afterward we went for a delicious lunch at Beagum's. It's probably my favorite place to eat here. Mostly Indian food with a little Arabic influence maybe? The bread pudding above was delicately delightful with a Frankincense essence I'm learning to love. You can see the sweet saffron, almond and pistachio addition. Those flavors were all infused into the pudding.
Matt was disappointed that neither Samuel nor I shared his appreciate for this other dessert of cottage cheese balls with ? I can't remember. Glad he loved it though. We got to share our visit with Luke on his P-day. I wished I could've shared the food too but it was great to hear all about his week at the Book of Mormon Musical in Cardiff.
