Sunset at the Sand Dunes
We always struggle with what to do on our Sabbath when we travel. Well, not always, but often. This Sabbath was one of a kind. Alena had the privilege of receiving her patriarchal blessing from the sweetest man in Dubai. Nothing else that happened in Dubai can equal this. We did need to do something however, so we went to see some "lakes" in Dubai. Since those turned out to be duds, we took a Detour to see the Expo Lake that was built on a nature preserve. I was pretty excited about this because one of the preserved animals was the Arabian Oryx I've been wanting to see. Sure enough, we got to see some relatively close up. Without a good Camera, I can't really prove that to you but even after the excitement of seeing Oryx butting heads it was a great trip.
This was the lake. It's a lot like the drainage ponds developments in Texas put in when they build houses.
There were many people camping and enjoying the day and we saw someone pull a car out of the sand. Turns out we're all pretty big fans of sand dunes and at sunset we had a lovely time taking stunning pictures.
