Day 3: Edfu Temple and Nile Cruising
Our 6am morning was almost a blessing after what we'd been through thus far. These faces sure make everything in life worth it. We took a horse and carriage ride from the dock to the Temple. The horses and carriage were in a lamentable shape and I felt guilty for not insisting the wash and treat them and feed them before we left. Amelia Peabody certainly would've intervened.
Many, many mud brick walls and buildings can still be found but in a sad state of ruin for the most part.
Edfu Temple was quite impressive in the early morning dawn with the Moon spying down.
Our guide wasn't really memorable. He was difficult to understand and much more interested in his phone.
The cruise ship on the other hand, was a lovely place for her. Egyptians don't seem to get annoyed with talking to children. They fully enjoyed her company and antics, or so they made it seem. This particular server played with her hat at every meal until we finally thought he deserved his own. He was thrilled.
Everyone was thrilled that there was finally time to relax. The kids collected descriptive/interesting words. Somehow they always find something to entertain themselves.
More pictures from Edfu Temple. Not sure how these got so out of order. This Temple was mostly buried by sand and remarkably well-preserved. There was even a lot of color in some of the reliefs.
There were a lot of games of pool happening on this trip. She wanted to pay for her OWN game because she's wise and she knows "that no matter what they won't want me to play." As sad as that is, she is right and she knows and she made her own plan and I'm very proud of her.

The Holy of Holies of Edufu Temple.
She has learned to find a spot in the room where we're touring and make her own fun while we walk around looking at the reliefs and paintings. She also enjoyed taking a few pictures.

The view from my cabin was enchanting.
Using her blankets was brilliant.
We went through a lock on our way down/up the Nile. Such a weird thing to wrap your head around when you're used to rivers flowing south. There were a lot of games of pool happening on this trip.
