"I'm running for Aunt Mona"

Our Aunt Mona is fighting cancer for the second time. I went to this charity run the school put on one the hard news that she had brain cancer. I really thought this was the end. The next night I found out that she was in a facility with one of 2 lazer brain surgery machines in the world and would be having surgery to remove her 16 tumors. I love that my kids saw that they money they earned made procedures like that possibly. 



Elise wasn't a big fan of certain flavors of her popcycle. Cayatana was symathetic.

Sweaty Stecher who tried his best. I sure love this kid. Middle School is a tough time to try all the new things at the same time and he's had such a great attitude.


Alena "ran" as in walked later on in the day so I wasn't able to be there and take pictures, but she did come out with her French class and cheer on the 4th graders. 



I love Sennia's sweet class. I believe this in Chinian(sp?), Sennia, Soniya, and Shama. China, America, Iran, and India represented I believe.

 I'm really the only running Stecher at the moment. Luke used to love to run but asthma really makes it hard for him. Elise has enjoyed it at times as well, but Stecher's need to improve their running skills! We did this for our loved ones who have died of cancer. We have many including Poppop and Sis. Smith. Now Aunt Mona is fighting. After the run, I found out that a specialized lazer brain radiation machine was availible at the clinic Aunt Mona goes to to remove/kill off her 17 brain tumors. It's a miracle made possible by the funding and research that we contributed to by this run.

My kids and I have made the best friends while we were here in NoVa. It's been a little heart wrenching to say good-bye. Thankfully it was packed full of friend time so that the girls hardly even had time to notice that we were saying good-bye. I will forever be thankful for the women and men who made all this possible. You will each be missed and I can only anticipate when next our paths cross.

Meet the Poulsons

We've had several new families move in, both to the Embassy and church! The Poulsons are an instant fit. They have a missionary, a BYU Freshman, and kids Brigham's age. They also love to adventure and are a lot of fun! We did some snorkeling, some paddle boarding, beach combing and tried to rescue a dead turtle that looked like it had recently died in a fishing net. We took them to Bimah Sinkhole and White Sands Beach. She wanted to jump but yet, she didn't. It's always a guessing game for her courage.

A Red Carpet Moment

The opening of the musical season at the Opera House made my heart beat fast. I wanted to have something formal to wear if I ever needed it so I had a dress made. I was incredibly nervous about the whole procedure but also pleased with the results. Matt bought me tickets to see Rigoletto.  As excited as I was, the production was incredible! I'm still dreaming about it and even Matt loved it-he doesn't like opera. After getting a beautiful dress i was super nervous about how to get me up to par. The toll my hair loss had taken is really tragic for me. It was doing better until the most recent episode Elise shared with me after catching it in Egypt. While it wasn't perfect, It was better than I'd thought.  It didn't really turn out like I thought but it worked. While the dress is beautiful, it doesn't really flatter my figure.
