Wadi Darbat
We all met up the next morning and caravaned to Wadi Darbat. It was a beautiful hike and we found our first chameleon. The kids had so much more fun hiking with friends than just with our family. Everyone was adventurous.
The grasshoppers and spiders were the insects of your nightmares.
Joey and Sennia were hiking buddies and they went to play in a cave. Joey saw what he "thought" was a snake skin because it was scaly and black but Sennia recognized it was alive! Turned out to be a chameleon which was completely adorable but after being handled by Mo and Matt he finally bit Samuel and drew blood so he was politely returned to his rock. I guess he didn't want to come home with us.
While beautiful, this water is home to flesh-eating parasites. I don't know what they chances are, and it was very tempting to play roulette because the water couldn't have been more beautiful, but alas, not worth the risk.
The cave was apparently thick with beetles some of which came home with us and have a very dangerous venom in a very tiny amount.
While I followed Elise around hoping she didn't break an ankle or fall into flesh eating parasite water, Matt hiked up to the waterfall with Brigham.
Looks like he did warn him. I think it was worth being able to hold an animal you've been wanting to see in the wild since you were 3 yrs old.
Elise really loved Amira. She falls so hard for friends and wants a really truly bosom friend.
This beehive was fascinating. There were signs that someone had been partaking of the honey and honey comb.
