The Little Things
Happy Mardi Gras 2022! We got together with some fellow Louisianians, plus some bystanders from RSO that wanted in and we had a true NAWLINS Bon Temps! This Praline King Cake was heaven. I will be dreaming about it until next Mardi Gras!
Samuel had some big news. He finished his Winter Internship at the Embassy and got this outstanding letter from the HR folks he worked with. He also got accepted to both BYU and UF and is struggling to make the decision about where he wants to go! UF didn't offer him what he thought he wanted so he's no longer sure that he wants to go there.
I went to the Oman Book fair and browsed around a bit. I loved these TinTin in Arabic for the kids. I also bought some great books from the Geological Society of Oman. A rock field guide and a Wadi book and another cool Geology book. I loved them so much I told my friend who also bought one.
So the sweet Indian friend from the Oman Branch had her baby and brought her to church to bless her. She and her husband wanted to make the occasion special so they made these little bags with chocolate and tiny thank you notes. Incredibly adorable.
We also went to watch Matt play in his first cricket game: US Embassy vs. Indian Embassy. Matt got roped in last minute and played all of 10 minutes of the game. He actually left when the 2nd half of the game started and the US Embassy had their turn at bat. He wasn't on the batting roster because they had too many people. He was actually only invited to add some white skin to the game because our team was predominantly LES(Locally Employed Staff) or Indians. A friend thought it might look better if we had some more American looking players since the only Embassy members were asian or African American. The celebration after the American Embassy won by 1 point was too fun though. I wish we'd stayed long enough to see it.
