Three Cave Tours
Today was all planned out for us by Blue Cave Tours. The goal was the blue cave but the tour was much more than that and we were really glad. There was a moment of disappointment when we discovered it didn't include the entrance fee to the cave. There's always a hidden cost to EVERYTHING when you travel. I don't know what I keep being surprised.
I took mostly videos of this day on the gopro(Here's a google link to the video I put together of the trip) but here are a few of the pictures. This one is from this island they dropped us off on for a bit. There were some really cool cactus that were brought in.
The boat ride out was about 90 minutes long. We came to the first cave-the Green Cave. That's when they dropped the bomb that this cave was 70 Kuna each and they didn't think it was worth it. They used to let people swim in or visit but now they charge that much and he discouraged us from trying it out. He said the blue cave was much cooler and only 100 Kuna. Matt only brought 400 kuna and another big thing about Croatia is they don't really take credit cards. Almost nowhere. This was such a disappointment because we planned to buy lunch too. All we had was snacks.
our Blue Cave tour was done by it's own company. We were on a tour with a couple of women from Hong Kong and a couple from France? Sadly I never asked them. The boat wasn't really set up to allow talking and I was always overly occupied with my kids I didn't get to chit chat.
She fell plumb asleep on the way back. Or actually on the way to Hvar.
So much to say about this picture. So the tour guides scraped together some extra cash supposedly and bought our Blue Cave tickets and we paid them back when we got to Hvar and and ATM. We also got. . .ice cream. It was really good a little expensive with a long line. Their pistachio was the best I've ever had-all roasty and nutty. She has no pants on because she was chaffed and why not? Nobody else was wearing clothes. She's just a happy beach girl with her giant melting ice cream.
We were so salty and crunchy and burned and oh how we all wanted showers. Matt however, was hungry and hankering for fish and chips. We tried wandering to a couple of places he found on google but when they weren't in existence I drew the line and said I'm going home to shower. We walked by this funny fountain on the way back to the apartment. Sammy called first shower, then Brigham. The hot water only lasted through 1 1/2 showers. I proceeded to shower the girls, then Eli, then I showered and the water was even colder than the ocean we'd dreaded climbing into. It was literally icy cold. I don't think you could find water that cold in all of Oman. Matt had gone on a wild goose chase for fish and chips takeout. Before he got home I discovered that the switch to the hot water heater was off. He ended up with pizza and a hot shower. Life just rarely ends perfectly does it?
PS-there is also a live peacock running around outside the building.

Unfortunately there aren't pictures of the first couple of caves we got to swim in. The water was shockingly cold at first. We went for a couple of caves and stops and then we stopped at this sandy beach where we didn't eat a yummy fish lunch but instead at digestives and Pringles.
She was getting tired. Probably because she couldn't settle down and sleep the night before.our Blue Cave tour was done by it's own company.
